Objectives of the ISC3 half course :
- Feel at ease with basic mathematical/numerical tools for scientific computing and computational methods
- Use a numerical development environment: Scilab
- Apply mathematical tools to some real applications and Engineering problems
- How to use Scilab advanced primitives in Scilab script to solve the problems
- Learn the use of LaTeX typesetting system for technical mathematical writing (reports)
- Be ready for the next ISC4 half-course (2nd part of semester)
The half course is organized into 7 chapters :
- Chapter 1 : mathematical prerequisites, introduction to Scilab
- Chapter 2 : polynomial interpolation
- Chapter 3 : linear approximation techniques
- Chapter 4 : solution of algebraic equations
- Chapter 5 : ordinary differential equations (ODEs)
- Chapter 6 : numerical schemes for differential equations
- Chapter 7 : differential algebraic equations (DAEs)
Weekly : 2h amphi course + 2h computer works in computer room (+2h personal work, report)
Evaluation: 50% computers works in UTC computer room + 50% home work (weekly technical reports)
